When you choose Frank Eye Center, you can trust that you are receiving excellent eye care, whether you are receiving a routine exam or a surgical treatment. Our staff consists of two ophthalmologists, an optometrist, three opticians, one registered nurse, numerous certified ophthalmic assistants, and caring front desk staff. Everyone on our staff is dedicated to serving our patients by keeping their interests first. Our team is also dedicated to serving the community, as we are involved in many projects and initiatives, such as No End In Sight (NEIS), which offers free eye care and eyewear to underprivileged children.

Kenneth J. Frank, M.D.
Kenneth J. Frank, M.D., was born in Iola and raised in Westphalia, KS. He attended Garnett High School. He went to the University of Kansas, where he graduated in 1988 with Highest Distinction with a degree in Cellular Biology. In 1992, he graduated top of his class from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He then completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In 1996 he completed his ophthalmology residency-training program at Texas A&M/Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. At all levels of schooling he reached the highest academic honors. He started Frank Eye Center in July 1996 in Ottawa, KS, and he and the staff have recently celebrated the practice’s 20th anniversary. Dr. Frank is active in the medical community, as he has served as President of the Kansas Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Chief of Staff at Ransom Memorial Hospital (twice), and Future Directions Task Force for Kansas Medical Society. In addition, he is presently a member of the Ransom Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, Ransom Memorial Hospital Charitable Association Board, and Ottawa Suzuki Strings Board of Directors. He also serves as an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology, and he is ranked a “10 Best” Corrective Eye Surgeon in Kansas and a “Top Ophthalmologist” by The International Association of Ophthalmologists. Dr. Frank and his wife, Shelly, live in Ottawa and have raised four daughters.
Chad S. Mies, O.D.
Chad S. Mies, O.D., was born in Chanute, Kansas. He graduated from Jefferson County North High School in Winchester, Kansas. He attended Emporia State University, where he was a member of the football team for three years and received a Biochemistry and Molecular Biology degree in 2009. Then, he went to Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry and received his doctorate in 2013. At NSUOCO, he received the 3rd Year Ocular Disease Award for demonstrating clinical excellence in the area of ocular disease. As a fourth year student, he received the Dry Eye Management Award and a Clinical Excellence Award that was chosen by the clinical faculty. While attending optometry school in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, he and his wife, Evan, were selected as Volunteers of the Year at the Humane Society of Cherokee County. After graduating from optometry school, he joined a private practice and served the Lawrence, Topeka, and Tonganoxie communities. He is an active member in the Kansas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Mies and his wife have a son and are expecting their second child in the fall.
